Welcome to EVERHART AND SOUL!
Thank you for your interest, and a big “Thank You” to Rob and Sandy for giving me the privilege of having some input to their powerful web page. I consider it an honor to be a small part of their team.
I’ve known Rob for a long time now, long enough to know that if I had to pick someone to be in a foxhole with, while being shot at, it would be him! (And who wouldn’t want to be in a foxhole with Sandy?)
Before I get too many months along with this newsletter, I’d like to briefly address the goal I strive for in my little corner:
Ultimately, I hope, in some small way, to give you what you need to either create or adjust a feeling of well-being in your life, one that will last deep within your soul. Your well-being comes from healthy choices about self, along with removing yourself from others choices. Your feeling of well-being does impact your energy level!
“The higher your energy level, the more efficient your body. The more efficient your body, the better you feel and the more you will use your talent to produce outstanding results.” - Anthony Robbins, Author, Speaker, Consultant
And …
“Just as your car runs more smoothly and requires less energy to go faster and farther when the wheels are in perfect alignment, you perform better when your thoughts, feelings, emotions, goals, and values are in balance.” - Brian Tracy, Trainer, Speaker, Author
To summarize: By continuing to grow in your awareness, you become more comfortable, more … enlightened (for lack of a better word). Then you will be able, in turn, give more attention to the task at hand, whatever that task is, as the other areas of your life will become less demanding.
What is enlightenment?
“You cannot grasp it; nor can you get rid of it. In not being able to get it, you get it. When you speak, it is silent; when you are silent, it speaks.” - Zen master Yung-chia’s Song of Enlightenment
“Before enlightenment - chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment - chop wood, carry water.” - Zen Proverb
Motivation has a short shelf-life, to benefit from it, you must act on it quickly, and recharge it periodically.
Well-being, enlightenment, and motivation are all like a circle; it all comes back to you one way or another. I know helping you in any of these areas is a tall order, but I’m willing to give it a shot. Thank you and be safe out there!

By taking control of your time rather than letting it control you, your productivity and health can increase and your everyday stress can decrease.
Here are 12 tips that can work for you!
Plan out your day. Write “To Do” list each morning, and prioritize your tasks. Then do the most important first.
Break big tasks into several small ones. Focus on one task at a time. Concentrated energy gets each task done faster.
Share responsibilities. You don’t have to do it all. Ask others to help you.
Take breaks as needed and schedule in some time each day for enjoyment.
Get enough sleep, exercise, and healthy foods so that you’re up for each task.
Make the most of every moment. Use down time to read or listen to audio tapes.
Learn to say “No” to unnecessary work or social engagements.
Set time limits for tasks that might otherwise go on forever.
Keep files that are organized so it is easy to find things when you need them.
Keep plenty of reminders. Have a calendar handy whether on your wall or on your computer, to help you keep track of what you have to do.
Balance work and play.
Simplify your life to gain time for what you really want to do, and nurture yourself by relaxing.
Remember: Time can’t change, but how you approach what you do with your time can change ... for the better.

I Love This Doctor!
Q:I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life; is this true?
A:Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that's it... don't waste them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your heart will not make you live longer; that's like saying you can extend the life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap
Q:Should I cut down on meat and eat morefruits and vegetables?
A:You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable).. And a pork chop can give you 100% of your recommended daily allowance of vegetable products.
Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?
A: No, not at all. Wine is made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine, that means they take the water out of the fruity bit so you get even more of the goodness that way. Beer is also made out of grain. Bottoms up!
Q:Is chocolate bad for me?
A:Are you crazy?HELLO?Cocoa beans! Another vegetable!!! It's the best feel-good food around!
Q:Is swimming good for your figure?
A:If swimming is good for your figure, explain whales to me.
Q:Is getting in-shape important for my lifestyle?
A:Hey! 'Round'is a shape!
Q How can I calculate my body/fat ratio
A:Well, if you have a body and you have fat, your ratio is one to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc.
Well, I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had aboutfood and diets.
And remember:
"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways -Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming"WOO HOO, What a Ride" AND......
For those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on nutrition and health. It's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies.....
1. The Japanese eat very little fat andsuffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat andsuffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
3. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
4. The Italians drink a lot of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
5. The Germans drink a lot of beers and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
CONCLUSION
Eat and drink what you like.
Speaking English is apparently what kills you.
The Art of Being Well by Dr. Dráuzio Varella
If you don’t want to be ill … SPEAK YOUR FEELINGS.
Emotions and feelings that are hidden, repressed, end in illnesses as: gastritis, ulcer, lumbar pains, spinal. With time, the repression of the feelings degenerates to the cancer. Then, we go to a confidante, to share our intimacy, our “secrets,” our errors! The dialogue, the speech, the word, is a powerful remedy and an excellent therapy!
If you don’t want to be ill … MAKE DECISIONS.
The undecided person remains in doubt, in anxiety, in anguish. Indecision accumulates problems, worries and aggressions. Human history is made of decisions. To decide is precisely to know how to renounce, to know to lose advantages and values, to win others. The undecided people are victims of gastric ailments, nervous pains and problems of the skin.
If you don’t want to be ill … FIND SOLUTIONS.
Negative people do not find solutions, and they enlarge problems. They prefer lamentation, gossip, pessimism. It is better to light a match than to regret the darkness. A bee is small, but produces one of the sweetest things that exist. We are what we think. The negative thought generates negative energy that is transformed into illness.
If you don’t want to be ill … DON’T LIVE BY APPEARANCES.
One who hides reality, pretends, poses, and always wants to give the impression of being well. He wants to be seen as perfect, easy–going, etc. but is accumulating tons of weight. A bronze statue with feet of clay. There is nothing worse for the health than to live on appearances and façades. These are people with a lot of varnish and little root. Their destiny is the pharmacy, the hospital and pain.
If you don’t want to be ill … ACCEPT.
The refusal of acceptance and the absence of self–esteem, make us alienate ourselves. Being at one with ourselves is the core of a healthy life. They who do not accept this, become envious, jealous, imitators, ultra–competitive, destructive. Be accepted, accept that you are accepted, accept the criticisms. It is wisdom, good sense and good therapy.
If you don’t want to be ill … TRUST.
He who does not trust, does not communicate, is not opened, is not related, does not create deep and stable relations, does not know how to create true friendships. Without confidence, there is no relationship. Distrust is a lack of faith in you and in faith itself.
If you don’t want to be ill … DO NOT LIVE LIFE SAD.
Good humor. Laughter. Rest. Happiness. These replenish health and bring long life. The happy person has the gift to improve the environment wherever they live. "Good humor saves us from the hands of the doctor!" Happiness is health and therapy.

Give your body its due.
Give it air and give it exercise.
Give your body its due.
Give it what it wants and needs to have,
So that it can see you through
For, if you take care of your body,
Your body will take care of you.
Keep it trim and keep it in the pink.
Keep your body in shape.
Keep it trim and keep it always fit.
Keep your body in shape.
Keep it moving, keep it clean and neat.
Keep it in a healthy state.
For, if your take care of your body,
Your body will just turn out great.
Over eat, over drink and smoke,
And your body will show.
Over act and over work or play
And your body will know.
Over doing good or bad
Is just not the proper thing to do.
But, if you take care of your body,
Your body will take care of you. – Unknown

Rick Warren
In our Devotionals series, Pastor Rick Warren discusses the Bible passages that inspire him the most. Today's Devotional is based on this passage:
"You made me; you created me. Now give me the sense to follow your commands" (Psalm 119:73 NLT).
Many of us are just too tired to love. We want to build deep relationships with those we care about, like family and friends. We want to love people in our community who are hurting. But we're just too tired. You can't love when you're tired.
What happens to your relationships when you're out of energy? Little issues become big problems and love withers. It takes physical energy to listen to people and put their needs first. I'm convinced that many married couples could avoid spending time with a divorce lawyer if they spent a little more time with a mattress salesman or a personal trainer.
The Bible mentions three habits that will refresh you physically and give you the strength to love others.
1. Get regular rest. "It is senseless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, fearing you will starve to death; for God wants his loved ones to get their proper rest" (Psalm 127:2 LB). Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is take a nap. Too tired to love your spouse and kids? Your problem isn't spiritual, it's physical. Get some sleep!
2. Eat a balanced diet. "You made my body, Lord; now give me sense to heed your laws" (Psalm 119:73 LB). God made your body to use a certain combination of foods as its energy source. Eating right will help give you the energy you need to love more faithfully.
3. Exercise regularly. "...Honor the Lord with your body" (1 Corinthians 6:20 NIV). Our bodies were made for activity. In biblical times they didn't have to exercise. People walked everywhere. They did physical work. But we have a sedentary life and drive everywhere we go. We need to exercise regularly.
"The older you get, the tougher it is to lose weight because by then, your body and your fat are really good friends." – Unknown
"Be patient and tough; one day this pain will be useful to you."
- Ovid, (43 B.C. - 18 AD)
